Hon. Nangayi Guyson

Hon. Nangayi Guyson is a Ugandan politician and international investigative journalist. A prominent member of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) led by former UPDF commander Gen. Mugisha Muntu, he has declared his candidacy for the Bungokho Central parliamentary seat in Mbale District in the 2026–2031 general elections. Building on his previous run in 2021, Guyson brings renewed energy, a robust manifesto, and a lifelong commitment to justice and community development.

Early Life and Personal Resilience

  • Born into a family of eight children in Bufooto, Busano sub-county, Mbale District, he is the son of the late Wanja Edward, a sub-county chief and a diehard supporter of former President Apollo Milton Obote.
  • In the turbulent 1980s, his family home on Mount Wanale was attacked amid political reprisals, forcing them into displacement.
  • His father sought refuge in Kenya but was tragically murdered in 1996 by unknown assailants.
  • These events instilled in Guyson a profound dedication to accountability, human rights, and effective governance—principles that now drive his public service and political vision.

  • 2021–2026 Campaign: Contested for Bungokho Central seat against candidates from NRM, FDC, and independents. He challenged the results on grounds of voter buying and electoral misconduct, asserting his own campaign was conducted with integrity and without financial inducements.
  • 2026–2031 Campaign: Returns with a comprehensive manifesto centered on:
    • Upgrading and maintaining rural roads.
    • Reviving sustainable agriculture and supporting smallholder farmers
    • Improving healthcare infrastructure and services.
    • Stimulating local economic activities through entrepreneurship and skills development.

He positions himself as the “genuine candidate” committed to clean politics and grassroots engagement.
